NEON - A series of paintings after neon work “GET OUT” by Tim Etchells. I wanted to do series of paintings paintings are trying using try to paint of neon lights with negative phrases on top phase with a positive version of the phrase below but inverted as some kind of reflection.

nea41a nea41a acrylic on A4 paper - towards a neon style sign
Relected light from scattered areas would lie within the bounds of the reflected sign.
Paints have no brightness
nea41 nea41 acrylic on A4 paper - towards a neon style sign, above ammended
nea51a nea51a acrylic on A5 paper - towards a neon style sign
Reflected light would be directly between the viewer and the light source.
Paints have no brightness
nea51 nea51 acrylic on A5 paper - towards a neon style sign, above ammended

nea43 nea43 acrylic on A4 paper - towards a neon style sign
nea44 nea44 acrylic on A4 paper - towards a neon style sign
The best one so far - neon signs need to be well formed and well painted, white in middle then darker hues radiating out.
nea45 nea45 acrylic on A4 paper - Black gesso topped with Gloss black neon style sign. White in middle then darker hues radiating out

NEON - All of the work produced was unsatasfactory. The computer didplayed copies are more alive that the original painted versions. In all cases the Paints have no brightness and are very dull. Most of the work with Black backgrounds only has Black Gesso ans a base. I Should use the black gesso but use gloss black paint to top, to put some 'life' back. I am going to have to do more experimanation so I can achive work of the style I visulaize.
I got no joy in working on these paintings. So, although I liked the ideas of the painting the style did not work for me, so I will not be going forward with this idea.
